Child Safety & Safeguarding | The Alphabet
Our Commitment

Keeping children
safe to learn.

At The Alphabet, the safety, dignity and well-being of every child are central to the way we teach. We aim to create learning spaces where children feel respected, supported and confident to explore, learn and grow.

Child Safety & Safeguarding Policy
A learning space built on trust.
Our educators, team members and associates share responsibility for maintaining respectful, age-appropriate and secure learning experiences.
What this means

Every child deserves to learn in an environment where they feel safe and valued.

This policy explains the standards we expect from the people involved in The Alphabet and the measures we take to support children's safety during our learning programs, classes and online interactions.

01 / PEOPLE

Respectful Conduct

Everyone representing The Alphabet is expected to behave responsibly and treat children and families with care, patience and respect.

  • Children must always be treated with dignity and kindness.
  • Physical, emotional or verbal abuse is not acceptable.
  • Educators must maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Bullying, harassment and discriminatory behaviour are not tolerated.
  • Information shared by families is handled responsibly.
02 / DIGITAL

Online Learning Safety

Online learning should feel just as safe and respectful as learning in person. We take reasonable steps to keep virtual interactions appropriate and secure.

  • Online sessions are conducted through appropriate digital platforms.
  • Access to classes and learning spaces should be limited to authorised participants.
  • Communication with children remains age-appropriate and professional.
  • Personal contact details should not be shared unnecessarily.
  • Any session recording, where applicable, should have a clear educational or safeguarding purpose.
03 / FAMILIES

Parent Partnership

Parents and guardians play an important role in a child's learning and well-being. We encourage open, appropriate communication with families.

  • Parents can raise questions or concerns about their child's experience.
  • Appropriate updates may be shared regarding learning and participation.
  • Parents are encouraged to tell us about concerns that may affect their child's safety.
  • We aim to work collaboratively with families when concerns arise.
04 / CONCERNS

Raising a Concern

If a parent, guardian, learner or educator has a concern relating to a child's safety or inappropriate conduct, we encourage it to be brought to our attention promptly.

  • Concerns should be shared as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Reports will be treated seriously and handled with appropriate discretion.
  • Relevant information will be reviewed so that appropriate action can be considered.
  • Where necessary, suitable corrective or disciplinary steps may be taken.
05 / IMPROVEMENT

Always Improving

Child safety is an ongoing responsibility. We aim to review our practices and improve them as our programs, technology and understanding of safeguarding develop.

  • Feedback from families and educators is welcomed.
  • We aim to learn from concerns and improve our processes.
  • Safety considerations remain part of our program development.
  • We encourage a culture where concerns can be raised respectfully.
06 / RESPONSIBILITY

A Shared Responsibility

Creating a safe learning environment is not the responsibility of one person alone. It depends on everyone involved in a child's learning journey.

  • Educators are expected to follow professional boundaries.
  • Parents are encouraged to communicate concerns openly.
  • Children should be encouraged to speak when something feels wrong.
  • Everyone should contribute to a respectful learning environment.
